Earth Day April 22, 2021 & World Environment Day June 5, 2021

Sustainability is a continuous journey  — constant thinking, improvement and learning. Each situation is unique with different opportunities to use resources as responsibly as possible to allow future generations the chance to do the same.  There are no perfect solutions but there are better and better ones.  Every step helps.

Earth Day and World Environment Day help us recognize the need to keep the environment at the forefront of our actions.  The days also offer us motivation to re-energize and re-commit to our efforts.  Some new initiatives we are undertaking to keep moving in a positive direction. 

1. Clean up our facility: Our sales, service, accounting and purchasing departments will be cleaning up outside any loose waste found in the environment.  We will clean-up on the road leading up to our facility and all around the facility itself.  Containment is key to keeping waste out of the environment.
2. Clean up in our community: We will once again participate in the Riverkeeper event on May 1^st  The Riverkeeper event coordinates over 120 project sites along the Hudson River and tributaries for cleanups, invasive species removal and planting projects.
3. New outdoor space: A new outdoor seating area will be completed in May 2021.  Adirondack chairs and a new picnic table will allow employees to enjoy the outdoors during breaks, before and after work.
4. New initiative: Our production facility will engage in a new initiative of landfill diversion.   With a goal of 99% landfill diversion by the end of 2021, the initiative will force new thought on use, reuse, recycling and potentially composting.  The groundwork is being laid and will be rolled out to the entire facility on May 2021.  Updates as to progress will be posted on the website
5. New book:  Finding Sustainability  is written by co-owner Trent Romer and will be  released on June 1^st   The book documents our company’s journey to finding sustainability.  Details of the book can be found at www.trentromer.com.  The book is available for pre-order on amazon.   

Future actions and ideas are fueled by reading about others journeys.
